Summary

If passed, it renews a 0.1% sales tax for 10 years to fund conservation programs.

What's Happening

  • Funding Source — In Missouri, the Parks, Soils and Water Sales Tax is a statewide 0.1% sales tax. It provides funding for Missouri state parks. It also funds soil and water conservation.
  • 10-Year Renewal —This sales tax needs to be renewed by the voters every 10 years.
  • Election Day — On November 3, 2026, voters in Missouri will vote on a ballot measure authorizing the tax for another 10 years. If the vote fails, the tax will expire in 2028.

Why It Matters

  • Park Funding —The sales tax provides 75% of Missouri's state park funding.
  • Free Access — It allows free admission to all state parks and historic sites (1 of only 8 states do this).
  • Conservation Funding — 50% of the tax funds soil and water conservation statewide.
